AN ARMY of superheroes used their special powers to seek out treasure and raise £10,000 for Bury Hospice.
Eleven teams took part in a car treasure hunt organised by The Major pub, in Bolton Street, Ramsbottom.
They dressed as superheroes as they followed cryptic clues and tackled crazy forfeits during the challenge.
The clues took them to 10 places within 10 miles of Ramsbottom, including Bolton Town Hall, the Hilton hotel in Manchester and the postbox outside the Arndale Centre which survived the IRA bombing.
Along the way, they attempted entertaining tasks such as walking down Manchester’s Canal Street in a bikini, finding a bride on her wedding day, milking a cow, and going to the toilet in a stranger’s house.
They took photographs at each point of interest and while doing the challenges to score as many points as possible.
The winning team, known as the Scooby Doo gang, was made up of Paul Farrell, Vicki Owen, Ian Green and Joe Smith.
After completing the treasure hunt, the teams enjoyed supper in the pub, along with a raffle, auction and music from a DJ.
There was also a raffle of silly items they had collected. Pub landlady, Anita Morris, said: “It was a really good day. Everyone really got involved and had a good time.
“Our target was to raise £3,500 so reaching £10,000 is amazing. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our customers.”
