A LONER who was given an ASBO for causing trouble in town centre pubs and terrorising his neighbours breached it just three days later.
David Newton, aged 41, of Victoria Street, Ramsbottom, is now serving a three-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to the offence.
He was handed the original order at Bury Magistrates’ Court on June 7, following months of nuisance behaviour. He also threatened his neighbours, But last Friday, Newton was arrested after he was seen damaging his own home and causing a disturbance.
Next door neighbour Janine Payne, aged 27, who is eight months pregnant, called the police about 3.30pm.
After Newton appeared before magistrates on Tuesday, she said: “I was just sitting at home and he must have been drinking because he was swaying. He picked up a concrete gate post and threw it. Then the door banged and he went inside and the usual shouting continued.”
Newton pleaded guilty. Defending, Shabir Khattak, said: “He calls himself a loner. People don’t want to speak to him, so he doesn’t in turn speak to them. He tries to keep to himself and he doesn’t, with malice or intention, harm anyone or cause any disruption.”
