IN response to the letter signed by Elton Vale Committee (Bury Times, June 2) I would like to ask who you if you are so completely separate and independent from the Diggle Lane Allotment Association committee?
Why did you write to us on Diggle headed notepaper, why are your plans on the Diggle website and who did you start your path through Diggle Lane Allotments?
You state that we should know about your wildlife watch in the letter you sent. In the first letter there was no mention of this, only that you were clearing rubbish off allotment land and then a second letter stating your had finished your work.
In your letter you don’t mention any footpath running from Newbold Street to the bridge, or the vehicle bridges for maintenance across the brook or the proposed thinning works to trees and reducing some trees or stumps, and no mention of diverting the stream.
At least five generations of my family have lived in this area and we know it well.
My dad and grandad had an allotment on Diggle Lane and I have it on good authority that this land was the same then as it is now. We don’t need some mystery committee to save it. How has it lasted and thrived for at least 200 years before “the committee” and Morris Homes came along?
