A LOCAL garage proprietor has been electronically tagged after pleading guilty to four charges of fraudulently claiming council tax benefit.
Intazar Shah, of Wellington Road, Bury, received council tax benefit of £4,882 for four-and-a-half-years from April, 2005, claiming to have low earnings from his tyre and exhaust business.
Shah, aged 34, failed to declare that he was the owner of premises, in Fletcher Street, Bury, and received rent. Bury magistrates ordered Shah to repay the falsely claimed benefit, and imposed a four-month curfew during which he must wear the tag.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £576.20.
