BURY Council is going on tour — to encourage people to have their say.
For the first time, the authority’s influential Executive meeting will not be held at the town hall.
Instead, the meeting, which takes place every two months, will tour Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Tottington and Ramsbottom.
The council’s new leader, Cllr Mike Connolly, was due to make the announcement at last night’s Executive meeting at the town hall.
On Tuesday, he said: “When the Conservatives were in power, we complained that, on occasions, it seemed like the townships furthest from Bury town centre seemed like they had been forgotten.
“By taking one of the most important council meetings out to those townships, we are showing how much we value people’s input in the decisions we take.”
The Executive is made up of Labour’s eight Cabinet members, plus the Conservative leader, Cllr Roger Brown and the Liberal Democrats leader, Cllr Tim Pickstone.
Members of the public can attend and ask questions.
The first Executive on tour meeting will take place at Ramsbottom Civic Hall at 6pm on July 13. Other dates will be announced later this year.
