PART of a former mill in the town centre is set to be converted into 24 apartments.
Mr Harry Khan, of Parkhills Road, received permission for the development at the York Street Mill, from Bury planning committee.
Part of the ground floor is occupied by Fishpool Gas and Bathroom Centre and the upper floors are empty.
The permission allows Mr Khan to convert the two upper floors into apartments and to create a rooftop extension.
Three objectors said the scheme would exacerbate parking problems in the area.
In response, Mr Khan set aside 12 parking spaces for the apartments.
A report to the committe said: “The development would bring existing vacant upper floor areas into use within a building that is in need of significant investment and regeneration.”
