A BIG thank-you to the five young people who helped a senior Bury supporter when he fell outside the Bury ground just before the match with Lincoln on Good Friday.
Peter Roffey, aged 77, of Timperley, Cheshire, has been a Bury season ticket holder since living in the area over 30 years ago.
He was keen to see them win promotion and as there were no buses he had to walk the mile from the tram station to Gigg Lane. However, as he crossed the road into the stadium he fell, and was badly injured. Four young men helped him and called an ambulance, while a young woman ran to fetch the St John ambulance crew. Peter was taken to Fairfield Hospital where it was discovered he had dislocated and broken both shoulders. After further complications, he is now recovering in the University Hospital of South Manchester. Peter and his family would like to express their gratitude to all those who helped him on the day, and since.
