ACCORDING to the Daily Telegraph (May 28), Bury Council had a credit card bill of £1,504,875, the fifth highest in the country.
This included amounts splashed out on flights to Canada, and expensive restaurant meals, as well as running up a £24,000 bill with local travel agents.
In view of the state of some of the roads in the Bury area, and cuts to local services, could Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat councillors explain why Bury spent one thousand times more (yes, you’ve read that correctly) than the three most frugal councils in the country.
