MORE than 60 jobs are being created with the opening of a new £6.5 million hotel in Bury town centre.
The new 115-bedroom Whitbread PLC Premier Inn, located in Knowsley Street, is scheduled to open its doors on July 4, employing 65 staff.
Nick Babrovskie, general manager of Premier Inn Bury, said: “We look forward to welcoming our guests to enjoy a night’s stay with us. Our hotel is perfectly situated for both leisure and business travellers.”
Work on the new hotel has been taking place for some time and it is set to become a dominant landmark near the Metrolink station, and close to Bury Town Hall.
l There’s a second employment boost for Bury with the news that Pets at Home is investing more than £350,000 in a new store. It will open at the Hall Mill Retail Park in Foundry Street on June 17 and create 11 jobs.
Pets at Home, which started in 1991, has more than 280 sites across the UK employing in excess of 4,900 people. It was recently named a Sunday Times Top 100 Employer.
Bury store manager, James Walmsley, said: “The new store will offer everything a pet owner could wish for, all under one roof.”
