I should like to express my opinion regarding the changes being made by Bury Council to Whitehead Park in Newbold Street, Bury. I couldn’t agree more with both Mrs Dean’s (April 21) and Mrs Baker’s (April 28) comments.
My grandchildren used to go to this once thriving park often but alas no more. Where are they supposed to play now?
I doubt whether the over 10s will use this park as much as the under 10s once did — what facilities do the under 10s have in the area?
When I initially saw what Bury council has done to the park I was incensed.
In these difficult financial times it seems like an act of vandalism on their part.
Who made the decision and was there any public consultation involved?
Does the council have any further plans to renovate any other parks in their care?
How long will the park be in this state as it looks an eyesore. Has the council never heard of the saying: “If it is not broken, why fix it?”
