FITNESS fanatics have been working up a sweat to raise money for Bury Hospice.
DW Sports, in Angouleme Way, Bury, waived the usual £10 fee for non-members to use its gym facilities on weekends in April.
Instead, customers were asked to make a donation to the hospice’s appeal for a new building or provide Easter eggs for patients.
They gave more than £300 in cash and 25 Easter eggs.
Sarah Van Dermerwe, who works at the gym, said: “Bury Hospice is our chosen charity for the year and we have been looking at ways to raise cash for its new building. It’s been very successful and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us.”
Ruth Lane, the hospice’s capital appeal fundraiser, said: “We would like to thank everyone at DW Sports who took part in the fundraising event.
“It is great to see people keeping fit and raising money for such a good cause at the same time.
“The Easter eggs were a lovely gesture and were gratefully received by the patients at the hospice.”
