AS I was parking in the disabled bay opposite the entrance to Fairfield Hospital, I must say I was appalled to find a male theatre nurse using the disabled bay as a smoking area and then discarding his cigarette on the ground right before my eyes.
Was this theatre nurse going back into the theatre? Is this one of the ways so many nasty bugs are spread? There were also ambulance staff using the same bay; perhaps the sign should instead read: "Smoking bay only".
I am sure that smoking was banned in the hospital Trust's grounds, but it seems that staff are a law unto themselves.
How do they expect patients and members of the public to act when staff are going against Trust policies?
As a disabled individual I am appalled to witness such behaviour from staff, not to mention how disgusting the pavement looks, littered with all the cigarette ends, as this photograph shows.
