RADCLIFFE teenager Laura Stanistreet has reason to celebrate after coming in the top five in the country for her GCSE in English Literature.
The Radcliffe Riverside High School pupil saw off 326,000 students from across the country to get the top mark placing and received a letter of congratulations from the director-general of AQA for her achievements.
In total Laura gained four A*s, 5As and 1B grade in her exams. It was yet another successful year for the Radcliffe school with 100 per cent of students achieving at least one or more pass at A* to G and 78 per cent gaining at least one pass at A* to C. Almost half of the students gained five A*s to C, an increase of 11 per cent on last year.
All 13 students who attended Alliance Learning in Horwich to study NVQ Engineering achieved Level 2, which is the equivalent of four GCSEs at A* to C.
Headteacher Diana Morton said: "Everyone at Radcliffe Riverside is absolutely delighted with the GCSE results. These are outstanding results for our new school. They reflect the hard work and effort put in by students and staff and supported by families, governors and LEA colleagues."
