BURY FC is poised to reap the financial rewards of a special savers account which could raise as much as £32,000 for the Gigg Lane club.
Their campaign for promotion to the League One has received a massive boost with the launch of the Bury Club Savers Account provided by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P). It could provide thousands of pounds for the club.
Loyal Bury followers can sign up to the Internet savings account free of charge.
The account appeal for supporters is that each year Bury will receive a bonus calculated on the average total balance held in all the fans' accounts during the previous calendar year.
Based on last season's average attendance at league games, it shows that if each fan had an account holding £1,000 it would have meant £32,000 going to the club.
Bury manager, Chris Casper, commented: "Our fans' support on the pitch will be crucial this season as the club aims for promotion into League One. This savings account will allow our fans to continue their support off the pitch as the more the fan saves in their account, the more they are directly helping our club."
Building society spokesman Alison Rolls said: "We hope this new account will prove a real winner for Bury. Since their launch, this type of account has been hugely successful for other clubs. Norwich City has received more than £2 million, Peterborough United more than £800,000 and Lincoln City in excess of £600,000.
"That's why this initiative could make a major difference to the club's financial future."
