A CARE home is set to expand in a bid to improve the well-being of residents.
Brookdale Residential Home is a large detached house with an adjoining bungalow in Chesham Crescent, and last March Bury Council gave its owners permission to extend the bungalow so it could accommodate people with dementia.
In August, the building was sold to Millennium Care Group, who now want to extend the first floor of the detached house. The home is keen to improve on its current care rating.
A company spokesman said: “In 2009, the home was awarded an ‘adequate’ standard by the Quality Care Commission.
“We are keen to improve on this.
“The standards of care have improved over recent years, moving away from 10 square-metre bedrooms to 12 to 15 square-metre bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The proposal seeks to address these issues.” The council is aiming to make a decision by March 29.
