AN inquest will be held to reveal what happened to a man who was found dead on the roof of a house in Radcliffe.

Ronnie Eden, aged 61, had climbed onto the roof of the property in Stopes Road to make repairs on Tuesday last week.

But he is believed to have slipped and fallen on a knife he was carrying.

A post-mortem examination held last week revealed Mr Eden died of a stab wound to his neck.

It was initially believed that he had suffered a heart attack, but that theory was ruled out by the post-mortem examination.

Mr Eden, who was a joiner and lived in Stopes Road, leaves wife Joan and her son Matthew.

Paramedics and the police were called to the terraced house in Stopes Road at 5.05pm last Tuesday by concerned neighbours who dialled 999. They were supported by firefighters who provided a hydraulic platform to help specially-trained scenes of crime officers access the roof.

An investigation was immediately launched by the police due to the nature of Mr Eden’s injury.

They have now ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
