AS a retail worker for a well known high street pound shop, I am used to being in the firing line for verbal abuse and sometimes plain bad manners.
But today, a man of senior years really took this to the extreme. He asked me if I was thick or I must have Alzheimer’s.
My mum died in January 2010 from Alzheimer’s after suffering for over 10 years.
On behalf of anyone who has this nasty illness or has cared for anyone with this illness, it is heartaching and devastating to the person it affects and all family members. Maybe this man could spend some time in a nursing home visiting people who have this illness.
I hope you or a member of your family never has to go through this; then again, it might make you think before you open your mouth.
