A FIREFIGHTER from Radcliffe who was filmed being spun in a tumble dryer has been suspended from duty.
Andrew Bruce publicly apologised for his role in the stunt which was filmed on a mobile phone and the footage sent to Greater Manchester Fire Brigade's website. It showed the 33-year-old placing uniforms around himself in the industrial-sized tumbled dryer before the door was closed and the machine switched on. He tumbled round several times as his colleagues laughed hysterically.
Now, Mr Bruce (33) and three fellow firefighters from Blackley fire station, have been suspended by bosses pending a disciplinary hearing which could result in the four men being sacked for breaching health and safety regulations and bringing the fire service into disrepute.
Deputy county fire officer Tony Proctor said: "Following interviews with the four fighters involve, due to the seriousness of the incident, the decision has been taken to suspend the firefighters pending the outcome of the disciplinary hearing."
