LAST Saturday, I was in Ramsbottom, and needed to get home to Newcombe Road.
On getting on the bus (472) I asked which route he would take beyond Holcombe Brook and he replied "Up the hill and first turning on the left".
However, he turned down the second left to Greenmount, where I alighted and had to walk along Vernon Road. Being in my 80s, this was very difficult and I had to sit down four times on low walls.
Whilst doing so, four boys aged about ten years came to me and asked if I was all right and where I lived, and could they help me home? I assured them I would be all right after a few minutes rest, and they saw me safely on my way.
I have no idea of their names, but would like, if possible, to thank them and appreciate their action, which is rare these days.
This act, in some ways made up for the burdensome route I had to take.
Could the bus company not consider its passengers more, and as in other areas, provide more convenient stops in emergencies?
