THE funeral of a man killed in a horrific factory accident will take place on Tuesday.
Mark Clegg was crushed to death in a compressor at WH Tracey textile recyclers in Bury when the machine's hydraulic system snapped a week last Tuesday.
The 36-year-old had only recently returned from a holiday in Egypt where he had proposed to his girlfriend, Carol Heys.
Mr Clegg was a former pupil of East Ward County Primary and Ashmeadow High schools and had worked for Tracey's for the last seven years.
He had a house in Rufford Drive, Whitefield, but had lived with Miss Heys at her home in Railway Terrace, Bury, for the past 12 months. A funeral service will be held at Bury Parish Church at 10am on Tuesday, followed by cremation at Overdale at 11.15am.
A wake will be held in The Towler pub in Walmersley Road, Bury, from noon onwards.
Mr Clegg's brother, Lee, said: "Anyone who wants to pay their respects to Mark is welcome to attend." He added: "My family would like to thank the police, fire and ambulance services for their help when Mark died.
"We would also like to thank Mark's friends and work colleagues, and Bury FC, for their support throughout this difficult time."
