BURY MP David Chaytor is supporting a bill which aims to slash carbon emissions from offices.
He has signed up to proposed new laws on climate change which would set binding targets on companies to use less power, and get more energy from renewable sources.
The commercial sector has the faster growing energy use apart from aviation. With so many computers and electronics in offices, the amount of electricity used is projected to increase by 45 per cent over the period 1990 to 2020.
"The need for urgent action to cut our carbon emissions is greater than ever," said Mr Chaytor. "I will do all I can to ensure that it becomes law as soon as possible."
