A TEENAGER was rescued from a 100ft cliff ledge while on holiday in North Wales.
Richard Haigh (14) was winched to safety by an RAF helicopter after realising he was stuck part way up the cliff face above Church Bay in Holyhead.
The teenager, from Prestwich, is believed to have been playing on the beach with his cousins when he decided to climb the cliff.
When he got to a point where he realised he could not go up or down, quick-thinking Richard contacted HM Coastguard on his mobile phone.
Due to Richard's location on the cliff, a Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley was drafted in and winchman Sgt Mario Testa lifted him away from the crag-face and lowered him onto the beach where he was reunited with his family.
HM Coastguard watch manager at Anglesey Ray Carson said Richard had remained level-headed and collected throughout his ordeal.
