The family of a woman who died in Bury have paid tribute.
Joanne Kitchen, aged 41, was found at a house on Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, at 4.40pm on Tuesday.
In a statement Joanne's family said: "Joanne was mother to two daughters, Belinda and Rebecca, nanna to William and Alex, mother-in-law to Shaun and a much-loved sister and aunty to the rest of the family.
"She was always cheerful and smiling, she would do anything for anyone, so much so that all Rebecca's friends called her 'mum'. To Belinda, she was her best friend as well as her mum.
"Joanne worked as a security officer at Holy Cross College where she was popular with colleagues and students alike.
"Her death will leave a massive hole in the family, who lost their grandma Norma and brother Anthony earlier this year. Things will never be the same again."
A 44-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
A post-mortem revealed that the cause of Joanne's death was two stab wounds and strangulation
