Police have located a man they wanted to trace following the death of a woman in Bury.

The man, aged 45, is currently with police officers in a hospital.

Police were called to Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, at 4.40pm yesterday, following reports a woman's body had been found.

Officers attended and discovered the body of a 41-year-old woman.

Formal identification and a post mortem to establish the cause of death are yet to take place.

Detective Superintendent Julian Ross, of the Major Incident Team, said: "This investigation is at a very early stage and we have a lot of work yet to do.

"I have a team of highly trained detectives working to establish the circumstances surrounding this woman's death and until we know more about what has happened it would not be helpful to speculate on the cause of death or events leading up to it.

"I can confirm this death is being treated as suspicious."

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call the Major Incident Team on 0161 856 2446, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
