MEMBERS of Elton Sailing Club have taken to the water again after a long nine months.
A project by British Waterways to improve the dam wall at Elton Reservoir has meant that club members have not been able to race their boats.
But on Sunday, strong winds didn’t deter sailors and a dozen boats set out on the water for the launch of the spring series.
During the past nine months, members have helped to create a new dedicated berthing area and a fully refurbished main club room.
Now, the organisation is preparing to host a series of events, including live music nights this Saturday and on April 24, an official launch supper for the sailing series on April 17 and a summer barbecue on June 26.
And on Sunday, May 30, Radcliffe Rotary Club are stopping off at Elton Sailing Club when more than 200 entrants are expected to take part in a charity walk for the Girls and Boys Club of Radcliffe.
Racing takes place every Wednesday evening and on Sunday afternoons.
