MUSLIMS and Jews met in Bury to hear Bury South MP Ivan Lewis give a talk on his journey to Westminster and the role faith plays in politics.
Mr Lewis spoke to members of the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester at the Jinnah Centre in Alfred Street, Bury, at a conference held last month.
The forum was founded in 1994 by Manchester City Cllr Afzal Khan and Henry Guterman MBE to provide a forum for inter-faith activities, and the Faith Network 4 Manchester also helped arrange the conference. Mr. Lewis said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about the influence of faith on my life and career. This has never been more important as we grapple with the challenge of a changing society and complex world.”
The forum’s co chairman Jonny Wineberg said: “It is so important for people from faith communities to be part of the political process and we are grateful to Ivan for giving us such a clear insight into the workings of government.”MP gives talk about faith and politics
