AN investigation is under way at a Bury textile firm after an employee received minor burns following a spillage of caustic soda.
The accident happened in the production area of Milliken Industrials in Wellington Street, and the injured worker was treated in hospital overnight.
Fire crews were called out to the premises to help clear the spillage which happened last Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for Milliken said: “The incident was handled very effectively by the emergency teams on site and the man who sustained minor burns received very prompt attention.
“He was taken to hospital and is now recovering well.
“We are obviously investigating to understand how this happened. This was the first serious incident we have had at the site in the last nine and a half years.”
