SINGERS have just 24 nerve-wracking hours left to prepare for the grand final of the borough’s Powersound competition.
This year’s talent contest started with 36 young singers, who were whittled down to the top 13 in three heats.
They will return to the stage of Radcliffe Civic Suite at 7.30pm tomorrow for the chance to be crowned the winner.
The singers are: Daisy Hope, aged 11; Carly Jade, aged 14; Molly Costello, aged 12; Jade Francine, aged 17; Harry Mondryk, aged 12; Max Alexander, aged 15; Megan Rowe, aged 12; Becky Ginn, aged 18; Hannah Fitzgerald, aged 12; Jacobi Bagley, aged 17; Rebecca Lake, aged 16; Sarah Howarth, aged 18; and Georgina Halleran, aged 16.
They will all be hoping to impress a panel of judges and a live audience to follow in the footsteps of 17-year-old Katie McAtee, who won last year’s competition.
Her successor will pick up a trophy, cash prize, and a day in a recording studio.
The 10th annual Powersound contest has been organised by Bury Venues and Bury Youth Service.
Samantha Williams, duty manager at Radcliffe Civic Suite, said: “This is going to be one of the best finals we have ever had. It is the 10th anniversary and the standard is unbelievable.
“The singers are all different ages and do different types of songs, but they are all fantastic. The judges certainly have their work cut out for them.” There are just a few tickets left for the final, costing £5 for adults and £3.50 for people under the age of 19. They are available from the Thomas Street venue by calling 0161 253 7812.
Seven acts will compete in a grand final for bands at 7.30pm on Friday, October 16. They are: Astrix, Blessed by Betrayal, Loaded Deck, The Afterparty, The Missing Link, Ruin It For Everybody, and The Versions.
