BURY’S Red Hall Hotel and restaurant has enjoyed a successful reopening after a multi-million pound refit.
The hotel, in Manchester Road, Walmersley, opened its doors after new owners Catford & Longford (C&L) bought and refurbished the property in a project totalling £5 million.
The Co-operative Bank’s Lancashire Corporate Banking Centre (CBC) provided funding to support both stages of the development, with a £3.4 million financing package.
C&L bought the hotel in January 2008 before embarking on an extensive refurbishment programme.
Seventeen bedrooms were added to the hotel, with the existing 20 rooms improved to the same standard.
A new, larger restaurant was added too, with the old restaurant converted to a function room.
Two additional function rooms, for 80 and 30 people, have also been created on the first floor. The hotel now employs 37 staff.
Brian Conroy, operations director at Catford & Longford, said: “We identified that there was a lack of high-quality hotel accommodation in the north Greater Manchester area and the Red Hall Hotel provided the perfect opportunity to deliver what is an excellent addition to the region.”
