EARLY this year the Ramsbottom Sunday market/car boot was closed by the council for three months.

After pressure from various parties it was re-opened in April.

Now six months later we are led to believe that it is probably closing again, and if the financial director of the council has his way this will be by the end October. It may never re-open.

This would be a disaster for Ramsbottom, for its residents, for shopkeepers and all the traders.

Ramsbottom will be a ghost town on Sundays, with shops suffering, maybe having to close down, and more misery heaped on us by a council who, I was led to believe, are supposed to act for its residents/constituents not against them.

I ask all local residents for their support on this, and to do whatever they can to keep Ramsbottom open on Sundays.
