I RECENTLY attended the semi-finals of Bury’s Got Talent to support one of the acts who were performing at the Met.
The tickets cost me over £25.50 for three. These tickets gave us a seat, and so we thought the right to vote.
The show had 16-18 acts split into three parts of the show. We were all given three voting tickets so we could vote for one act per part.
This in itself was fair enough, what we didn't find fair was the fact that the votes were counted “behind closed doors” so the audience did not know which acts actually received the most number of votes.
We were literally just told which acts had got through to the final.
We didn’t find this very democratic, especially after paying to support and vote for the acts.
We certainly would not attend another of these shows.
What I would like to add is our support for the acts who took part, they were very good and put on a great show.
Shame about the way the voting was carried out.
