A TRUST fund set up in the memory of murdered Bury schoolboy Joe Geeling has been given a boost of more than £6,000.
The total amount of £6,094 was raised following the second annual Joe Geeling Five Mile Run held in Bury in June.
Hundreds of people, many in fancy dress, took part in the poignant event which was hosted by the Lavender Hotels Group at the Bolholt Country Park Hotel and was sponsored by Ramsbottom Kitchen Company. Joe, who suffered from cystic fibrosis, died aged 11 in March 2006 after being stabbed by fellow St Gabriel’s RC High pupil Michael Hamer.
Set up by parents Tom and Gwen Geeling, the trust fund raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The New Children’s Hospital Appeal. At a presentation, Mr Geeling accepted the cheque, which included £500 from Northwest Design Studios who spearheaded the promotion of this year’s event.
