A footballer who had recently been on loan to Bury FC was jailed for 32 months after a father-of-five was killed in a road crash on Christmas Day.
Jordan Robertson, aged 21, was handed the sentence at Leicester Crown Court last Friday after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
He was also banned from driving for five years.
Robertson, who was a striker with Sheffield United, hit a Ford Galaxy driven by Omar Mohamed on the southbound carriageway of the M1 near Lutterworth, Leicestershire, at about 2.50pm on December 25.
He later told police he had been trying to change songs on his iPod in the black Mercedes CLC 180 sports car when he ploughed into the vehicle.
Mr Mohamed, 38, from Leicester, was airlifted to hospital but died on Boxing Day.
Robertson, from Sheffield, was on loan at Southampton FC when the crash happened. He made four appearances for Bury during his recent loan spell.
