SCOTT Quigg has set his sights on the English title after his latest knockout display.
The unbeaten Bury super-bantamweight made it win number 15 following his superb second-round victory over German Nico Schroeder.
Quigg continues to impress and twice had the heavier Schroeder on the floor before his corner threw in the towel at Manchester Velodrome on Friday night,.
Now the 20-year-old hopes to be handed a shot at the vacant English belt when he returns to action on Novemeber 13.
“My trainer, Brian Hughes, and Hatton Promotions deal with all that but it is something they are looking at,” said Quigg.
“The English title is the next step for me, or an eliminator for a British title fight, but I’m no rush.
“I’m still young and learning with every fight.”
Quigg made light work of the Schroeder following a last-minute switch of opponent.
The growing star was due to be fighting Georgian Kakhaber Avetisian but he pulled out leaving him to face the 23-year-old journeyman, who was 12lb heavier.
But, despite the weight difference, Quigg wasted little time putting his man on the canvas — enhanching his big-punching reputation with his ninth knockout of his career.
“I don’t go looking for it,” said the Bury ace after his latest stoppage.
“I knew I could punch but to stop someone who was a lot heavier was definitely a confidence booster.
“I hurt him with most of my shots and then caught him with a cracking overhead right.
“Just think what I can do when I fight someone my own size.”
