I write with regards to the letter in the Bury Times, September 24, from Mr David Louth, of Bury.
The residents of Westgate Avenue, South Bank Road and Parliament Street, Bury, are in a similar situation.
If you should be so unfortunate as to go out in your car in the mornings, you have no chance of parking anywhere near your own front door when you return.
These three streets are choc-a-bloc with cars owned by ignorant people who work in the Town Hall, at the police station and other offices and shops in Bury town centre.
They don’t want to pay parking fees in the car parks in the town centre.
Cars are frequently left parked on the pavements on Westgate Avenue and Parliament Street.
If a fire engine was needed in an emergency in either of these streets, it would have no chance at all of negotiating the corners, as cars are regularly parked right across corners.
There is also the problem of the second hand car business in South Bank Road adding to the chaos. Often there are 10 cars parked all over the place in that area.
This is done apparently with the full blessing of the planning department at Bury Town Hall.
When we come home with our shopping, we quite often have to park up to 100 yards away from our own house.
I am certain that most residents would welcome a residents only parking system.
I am one of many absolutely fed-up residents.
