In response to Mr Lewis’ letter regarding the Radcliffe School sites. It is interesting that he refers to events of over two years ago which he has not followed up since — other than by personal abuse aimed at me on a recent demonstration. There is no legal reason why the new school could not be built. There were some development issues, most of which were resolved before the council purchased the site for the new school. The difficulties relate to the cost of the school. There never was any cash provision. It was intended that the excess value of the two current sites in a land swap would cover the build cost. As the recession built, the developer withdrew from that part of the arrangement.
Mr Lewis knows this. If he could help by persuading the Government to bring forward the Schools+for+the+Future">Building Schools for the Future funding, we could have the new school.
