Bury's Fusilier Museum was officially opened on Friday by HRH the Duke of Kent.
Local dignitaries attended the event to see the Duke unveil a plaque and enjoy a guided tour of the borough's new £4.2 million museum which has already proved very popular with visitors.
The Duke met members of the Lancashire Fusiliers Band and Drums and the Lorne Scots Pipes and Drums together with members of the public in the Gallipoli Gardens next to the museum in Moss Street.
The ceremony was followed in the evening by a Fusilier Gathering at the Village Hotel in Bury.
On Sunday, the recently restored Fusilier Monument was unveiled by Lord Ridley in the Gallipoli Gardens outside the Fusilier Museum. This was followed by a service at Bury Parish Church led by the Rector of Bury, the Rev John Findon.
