I recently had the pleasure of attending the Elms in Bloom event at the Elms Community Centre Whitefield, an annual competition where certificates and prizes are presented to individual and community groups for garden and flower arrangements.
It was delightful to see the community centre full with competitors, their families and friends, and members of the community. All enjoyed afternoon tea, and prizes and certificates were presented by the deputy mayor and deputy mayoress.
My grateful thanks to them and to all the ladies of the management committee who so charmingly served up the tea. I would like to thank Unsworth Ward councillor, Joan Grimshaw who organised the event, and who took beautiful photographs of all the exhibits. She worked incredibly hard to ensure that everything ran smoothly and was such a great success. Here’s looking forward to next year!
