PRIMARK, the popular clothing and household store has announced it is coming to town, the Bury Times can reveal.
The company will open a 50,000 sq ft store next July at the new £350 million Rock development in the town centre, alongside Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and other big retailers.
A source close to the project said: “Primark’s massive strength is that it sells quality clothing at budget prices. There are many bargains to be had and people from all backgrounds visit in their droves. That can only be good for other shops in Bury.”
Primark’s property executive Patrick Wymer said: “We have been looking for suitable opportunities in Bury for some time and we are delighted to now be able to open our first shop in the town.”
Bury Council chief executive Mark Sanders: “Primark’s announcement is fantastic news and will further build Bury’s reputation as the place to shop, visit, work and live.
Council leader Bob Bibby said: “It’s all go in Bury at the moment – we’ve got the official opening of the Fusilier Museum this weekend, the new Townside developments opposite the town hall, and the new business park and police headquarters at Chamberhall. Long may it continue.”
