THREE Bury FC footballers gave a kick-start to a charity cycle ride.
Paul Scott, Ryan Creswell and Tom Newey joined Cash Generator employees, Phil Partington and Simon Walsh on the starting line in Bury town centre.
Phil, aged 26, and Simon, aged 24, donned their cycling jerseys to take part in the northern leg of “Tour de Cash Generator”, an 800-mile relay-style cycle challenge connecting Cash Generator stores across the UK. The duo completed the seven-mile cycle from the Bury store to the finishing line in Bolton and back again in less than an hour. The target nationally is to raise more than £100,000 for the national children’s charity, Make A Wish Foundation UK.
Phil said: “It was hard work but well worth it. We both cycle frequently, so we were prepared and looking forward to the challenge. “ Store manager, Kelly Postlewaithe, commented: “What makes it even more special is that all money we have raised from our individual cycle will be used in this local community and go towards granting wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses in the immediate area.”
