FIREFIGHTERS spent three hours tackling a blaze at a photography business in Bury.
A stack of around 10 wooden pallets had been set alight outside the building on the Woolfold Trading Estate, off Tottington Road.
The fire spread to the roof and kitchen of the photography studio before a passer-by called the fire brigade at about 6.30pm on Saturday.
Crews stopped the fire spreading further in under 30 minutes by making their way into the kitchen through the roof.
Police officers attended the scene until the roof was boarded up and the property was made secure. Crew commander from Bury Fire Station, Tony Wilson, said: “Most of the kitchen was damaged by fire and it had just started to make its way into the rest of the building. Another 10 minutes and the whole place would have gone up in flames.
”It was problematic and we had to remain on scene because the fire had melted right through the mains electricity cable.”
Engineers from United Utilities ensured the electrics were made safe.
