Bury’s dedicated foster carers are to be saluted at a celebration evening next month.
The event will be held at Bury Town Hall on Thursday October 1, to show the council's appreciation of the hard work and commitment of the borough’s foster carers.
The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Sheila Magnall, will award certificates of achievement to foster carers who have completed training including NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
The evening will also include a buffet and music provided by Besses Boys’ Band.
Diana Powell, family placement team manager, said: “Bury’s foster carers do wonderful work and we are very grateful. We would welcome enquiries from people with the resilience, time and understanding of children’s needs to become foster carers There are currently 230 foster carers in Bury, but the team are looking for more who can look after groups of two or more children, from babies to teens, so that brothers and sisters do not have to be separated. More foster carers are also needed for older children and teenagers.”
Information packs on fostering can be obtained from the Family Placement Team on 0161 253 5457 or by visiting bury.gov.uk
