I was recently in Fairfield Hospital for almost eight weeks and I received excellent care.
Within 48 hours of being admitted they had done blood tests, despite my veins having collapsed, and discovered I had Legionnaires’ disease and pneumonia. I was admitted to the Intensive Care, High Dependency Unit, and it is due to the expertise and dedication of the doctors and nurses on that unit that I am alive today.
I was critically ill and my husband was told, in effect, that I might not survive.
Three weeks later I was well enough to be moved to another ward, Ward 6.
Initially I was unable to move and had to learn to walk before I could come home. I was on this ward for five weeks and once again the nursing staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble.
The physiotherapists who got me walking again were kind and encouraging and the occupational therapists set up things at home to make life easier.
So a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to Fairfield Hospital and the doctors, nurses and therapists working there.
