A RECITAL at Bury Parish Church tomorrow marks a milestone in the Friday lunchtime musical performances.
For the latest concert will be the 200th since the Rev John Findon, Rector of Bury, decided to bring music to a local audience at a modest price and on a regular basis.
Marking the big occasion will be John Resek, former violinist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and David Butterworth, a professional pianist.
The concert series runs from September to July each year, almost without a break, and has a loyal following.
Mr Findon said: “The cost is only £4 and it is a refreshing way to spend an hour listening to excellent music in our grade one listed building.
“We have been fortunate in attracting musicians, not only from the North West, but from other parts of the country, including some national and internationally known performers.
“We also encourage younger, local talent from the local grammar schools, Chethams School of Music and the RNCM, who relish the opportunity to perform in public.”
Tomorrow’s concert begins at 12.30pm.
