SOCCER-mad youngsters ended their school holidays on a high at a five-day football course in Bury.

The free sessions, run by coaches from Bury Football Club, took place at the playfootball.net five-a-side centre in Market Street.

More than 140 children, aged from five to 11, were given top tips on how to improve their game and learned all about how to prepare for a big match and how to eat healthily.

Organiser Paul Weller, who is Bury FC’s strategic community manager, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant week and we had a lot of good feedback from parents.

“All of them improved their fitness levels and got a special healthy meal courtesy of Subway on the final day.

“They all got free tickets to a game and also met Bury’s first team players Efe Sodje and David Worrall — as well as the mascot, Robbie the Bobbie.

“It went so well, we are doing it again in half-term, starting on October 26.”
