NEWS was expected to be good for hundreds of the borough’s teenagers anxiously awaiting their GCSE results today.
Early indications are a number of schools will be celebrating record-breaking results.
Nationally, the GCSE pass rate has risen again.
Last year, 65.7 per cent of exam entries were awarded at least a C grade, and this is likely to rise again.
More than a fifth, 20.7 per cent, of entries were given an A* or A grade, and this could be nearer 22 per cent this year.
