POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in a Bury pub.
The 36-year-old victim was left needing stitches to his eye following the incident in the Derby Arms in Bolton Road.
He was having a few drinks with his friends when another man sat next to him and started talking to him.
The thug said a few words to the victim before headbutting him in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.
CCTV images have now been released of the offender wearing a striped top, as in the picture top left.
The victim suffered a cut above his right eye that needed five stitches following the assault at about 11.30pm on July 11.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bury CID on 0161 856 4647, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
