POLICE are looking for a Good Samaritan who helped a man attacked in a town centre bar.

The woman, known locally as “the cider lady”, helped the man by taking him by taxi from Coolers Bar, in Silver Street, Bury, to Fairfield General Hospital.

The 36-year-old victim was in the bar’s toilets when he was punched in the eye in an unprovoked attack between 2am and 3am on Monday, April 27.

He was then kicked in the face by another man, knocking him unconscious.

Detective Sergeant Darren Collins, from Bury CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked and senseless attack on the victim. He was given such a beating that he actually lost consciousness and had to go to the accident and emergency department for treatment.

“We do not know if the woman who helped the victim actually witnessed the fight, but she clearly went above and beyond and helped this man to hospital, so we are very keen to speak to her, both so the victim can thank her and because she may have vital information about what happened.

“I would urge that woman, if she is reading this, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Bury CID on 0161 856 8248 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
