CAN you spare an hour or two a week to help a visually impaired person?
Bury Society for the Blind is looking for volunteers to spend time with blind or partially sighted people who live in the borough.
Volunteer coordinator Elisabeth Arnott said: “We are aiming to reduce isolation and loneliness for visually impaired people.
“We want friendly and caring individuals to provide support for people who have a range of visual impairments.
“Befrienders can help with reading and correspondence or escorting clients on outings and short walks.
“You will gain valuable knowledge of a range of visual impairments, lasting friendships, enhanced communication skills and most importantly the ability to improve the quality of life for a visually impaired person.”
All expenses will be reimbursed and training and support will be provided.
