SATISFIED soldiers dropped in at Bury’s new Army Careers Information Office to tell young people interested in joining the forces how much they enjoyed army life.
The Satisfied Soldier Scheme was set up to allow those returning to their home towns to tell people interested in a career in the army what life as a soldier is really like.
And 25 soldiers taking part in the national scheme turned up at the newly-opened office at the Fusilier Museum in Moss Street.
The scheme usually sees only one soldier return to their home town. Satisfied Soldier participant, Cpl Phil Kerr, aged 23, from Bury, said: “It was great to see so many of my old friends from the first phase of training seven years ago back in one room.
“I’m really proud of what I do and I wanted to return to Bury and make sure that people know the real facts about the army.”
